• Casodex is not indicated for use by women. Do not take this medication if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. Casodex is in the FDA pregnancy category X. This means that Casodex is known to cause birth defects in an unborn baby.
• It is not known whether Casodex passes into breast milk. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
How should I take Casodex?
• Take Casodex exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions ask your doctor nurse or pharmacist to explain them to you.
• Take each dose with a full glass of water.
• Casodex may be taken with food or milk to lessen stomach upset.

• An overdose of Casodex is unlikely to threaten life. Call an emergency room poison control left or your doctor for advice.
What should I avoid while taking Casodex?
• There are no restrictions on foods beverages or activities while you are taking Casodex unless your doctor directs otherwise.
What are the possible side effects of Casodex?
• Stop taking Casodex and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips tongue or face; or hives).
• Other less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Casodex and talk to your doctor if you experience
hot flashes
decreased sex drive or impotence
headache
nausea or vomiting
diarrhea or constipation
breast tenderness or swelling

What other drugs will affect Casodex?
• Before taking this medication tell your doctor if you are taking warfarin (Coumadin). Casodex may interact with warfarin and bleeding could result. Your doctor will want to monitor your warfarin therapy.

From Gulf News: Runners should avoid prescription drugs. Statins may increase production of the enzyme creatine kinase, and hence heighten chances of muscle damage in athletes. Marathon running has increased in popularity over the past three decades, with participation in the United States rising from 25,000 runners in 1976 to nearly 470,000 in 2008. Many professional and recreational runners take prescription drugs, unaware of potential side-effects that affect runners in particular. One such class of drugs, called statins, which includes medicines such as Lipitor, Crestor and Pravachol, lowers blood cholesterol by inhibiting a cholesterol-producing enzyme and may even lower the risks of heart attack and further cardiovascular disease in a narrow category of patients. A new study forthcoming in the American Journal of Cardiology examined the effect of statins on creatine kinase (CK), an enzyme linked to muscle damage. Elevated levels of CK in the blood and muscle after exercise correlates with muscle damage. The study, conducted by Dr Beth Parker of the Henry Low Heart Centre at Connecticut's Hartford Hospital, is the first to measure CK levels in athletes taking statins after physical activity in a real-life environment rather than in a university laboratory.
